Aim
This familiarization course will increase the Drivers knowledge and understanding of the Digital Tachograph and the Rules and Regulations concerning its use. The training also covers Drivers Hours Legislation. The training will cover the following topics:

  • Driver card log in
  • Manual entries
  • Mixed driving
  • Driver card log off
  • Data display and print offs

  • Adjusting the UTC and local time

  • Explain the procedures to be followed in the event of the driver making a mistake
  • Explain the procedures to be followed in the event of an equipment malfunction

Drivers Hours

  • Explain the drivers responsibilities and the penalties for non compliance
  • The difference between driving time and working time
  • The maximum driving hours, daily, weekly and fortnightly
  • What is meant by breaks from driving
  • The term daily rest and weekly rest
  • Compensation rules regarding reduced weekly rest
  • What is meant by the term period of availability (POA) and when should you use it
  • Split breaks
  • What is meant by double manning
  • Rules regarding emergency procedures
  • Explain the procedures to be followed in the event of the driver making a mistake
